Vessels Quilt
Quilted textile hanging made from deadstock cotton and painted gouache.
Created for and installed at Riposte Art Rave Pride Special, a 12 hour rave at Electrowerks. ‘Vessels’ is a large scale quilted piece/wall hanging created for Riposte that explores the comfort and nurturing that nightlife and dancing can create for queer people.
A dancefloor is a quilt.
A quilt is a dancefloor.
Creating a dialogue between quilts which are usually associated with home, comfort, familiarity and nurturing with a nightlife space that, for queer people particularly, can often mean all those things too. A love letter to dancing and people coming together because in those spaces you can find yourself and become who you want to be.
